About Us

The Sentimentalist is a designer and vintage bridal shop in Atlanta’s Westside neighborhood. We are a small, family-owned business that strives to offer a unique collection, beautiful space, and low-pressure, high-customer service experience. We work with small, independent North American designers who tend toward a vintage, bohemian, and slightly alternative aesthetic.

Meet Krista

Krista is a tea-drinking, heirloom-shopping lady versed in all things Atlanta, etiquette, and lovely. Born, raised, and married in the shop’s neighborhood, she is a naturally sentimental gal who holds dear her family, home, and grade-school sweetheart. After a career in nursing and a lifetime of being everyone’s go-to tastemaker, she found her fit in the finery of bridal fashion.

Meet Gabi

Gabi is a peach with time spent on the West Coast, planning parties and playing with wedding dresses. After learning from the best with Portland’s sweetest bridal boutique and favorite planning group, Gabi was excited to move home and bring some of her favorite independent designers with her. She has an eye for fit, a tendency for vintage, and a passion for color. She believes in lipstick, soul food, and old trucks, and she just loves helping brides find their perfect dress mate.

Both ladies have a soft spot for all things antiquated and for this fine city.

Our specialty is helping you find your perfect wedding dress. We have curated a collection of dresses by designers we love and are here to help you create your personalized wedding look. Our staff is highly trained to assist you in finding options to fit your specific style, timeline, and budget. We are pros at getting creative and staying supportive.

We are stellar at pairing the perfect accessories with your dress and are also happy to consult on hair, makeup, and bridal party styling.

Our complimentary consultations provide an intimate, unparalleled dress shopping experience within a peaceful, beautiful space. We offer a safe and relaxing environment for our kind of bride.

And Krista’s mimosa punch is served on weekends.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes, we require appointments. We are a small shop and provide limited and highly customized consultations for the bride who is knowledgeable about our unique collection, price-point, and special order process. You may make an appointment by calling us at 404 355 7500 or emailing

What are your Covid-19 safety policies?

As part of our Covid-19 safety policies, we are currently open by appointment only, are spacing out parties in time and in the shop to the best of our ability, and have a bride +4 guest limit for appointment group size. We are happy to help Zoom in additional family or friends.
Masks are required for everyone, guests and staff, while in the shop. Surfaces and spaces are being sanitized between each appointment. And—MOST IMPORTANTLY—reschedule if you are at all ill, recovering from illness, or have been in recent contact with anyone with Covid-19. Any sick staff will also be staying away.

What kind of dresses do you sell?

We sell designer, made-to-order wedding dresses and bridal accessories. Our small, curated collection styles tend to be more romantic, soft, and vintage inspired. No big ballgowns or trumpet style dresses here! We also carry a limited vintage collection and sometimes sell our samples.

What is your price-point?

Our dress prices average between $2,000 and $3,000. We usually have a handful of samples for sale off-the-rack at a discounted price. And our vintage collection is all under $500.

How does the special order process work?

All of the dresses in our shop that you will be trying on are samples. Once you have selected a dress, we take your measurements and work with you in choosing the best size for you. We then order your specific dress and have it shipped to our shop. Alterations are to be expected. We do not offer alterations, but we will refer you to our favorite local alterations specialists.

What sample sizes do you have in the shop?

We strive to carry sample sizes that will work for most brides, but samples rarely fit perfectly. We have our own arsenal of tricks and tools to help provide an idea of how the dress will look in your size. Most of our samples are between a size 6 and 10, usually fit most brides between size 0 and 18, and can usually be ordered up to a size 18. A few of our designers carry plus sizes or can have a custom pattern made. This can sometimes result in a custom pattern fee—just a heads-up! We currently have over a dozen plus size samples in our shop. We have also expanded our number of samples in sized 12-16, which can be easily fit to surrounding sizes.

Do you have a specific dress I am looking for?

We only carry a selection of samples from each of our designers, but we can special order any dress from our designers’ available collections. Just call or email us if you are looking for a specific dress. In select cases, we can request that a dress be sent with the next trunk show or loaned to us for your appointment at a minimum $100 fee. We are also specially trained for and knowledgeable about building custom looks with our current collections. We offer multiple color options and carry separates lines and interchangeable styles.

How long does it take to get my dress?

Our designers’ production times take anywhere between 3 to 5 months. A few designers carry stock and can have your dress to us in just a few weeks, and several of them offer rush services for a fee. We will help you find the best options for your wedding date, provide you with an estimated ship date, and keep you updated along the way.

How do trunk shows work?

During a trunk show, we host a designer’s full current collection for a weekend. This gives brides the chance to try different styles from their favorite designer and gives us the chance to try out new pieces or new collections in our store. During a trunk show weekend, discounts are typically extended for any of the featured designer’s pieces. Brides are not limited to trunk show styles and may shop our entire collection during their appointment.

Tips for Visiting

Do Your Research

Explore our website a bit and take a look at our designers’ websites. Browse our Pinterest gallery of styles and our Instagram for pictures of our real brides, sentimental styles, photo shoots, and special events.

Come Prepared

We suggest going light on the makeup, tanner, and jewelry before trying on our pretty white dresses. We usually prefer to have you try on dresses without a bra, but sometimes a strapless bra can be helpful. Heels aren’t necessary and easier left off.

Bring a small but great team. A small, supportive group of family and friends is best for accomplishing a pleasant and productive appointment.

Keep An Open Mind

We always recommend trying on more than less. If anything catches your eye, try it on! You will learn more about what you really want by trying on several styles and keeping an open mind. The dress you fall in love with might not have been what you had in mind, and that only makes it extra special.

We’re also really good at creating custom looks, so if you don’t see what you’re looking for, just ask!
